Jersey Mike’s History
It was originally known as Mike’s Subs when it opened in 1956 in this exact storefront location. In Point Pleasant, New Jersey, Mike opened a small shop.
Because there were very few franchise eateries or hamburger chains in 1956, it’s essential to keep this in mind. There are no chain restaurants serving pizza, chicken, or tacos.
Mom-and-pop businesses opened their doors in simple storefront locations like this one in 1956. To stay in business, they needed to offer high-quality products and exceptional customer service.
For the first time in American history, Mike was selling a product that had never been seen before the submarine sandwich. Peter Cancro attended high school in Point Pleasant, New Jersey, in 1971. Mike’s Subs hired him when he was 14 years old.
Peter had a great time at Mike’s. He was a sucker for a good old-fashioned submarine sandwich. Peter, on the other hand, cherished his time spent serving customers and interacting with them face-to-face.
He enjoyed hearing about their summer vacations and where they came from. At the end of the day, he took great satisfaction in knowing what his loyal customers would order when they walked into the store.
As a senior in high school, Peter overheard Mike’s Subs owner talking about selling the company. With more than 2,000 locations open and in development, Peter Cancro serves as CEO of Jersey Mike’s Franchise Systems Inc.
The title doesn’t stop Peter from hopping behind the counter to show his dedication to the product and customers, despite the fact that he’s a manager. As of this writing, the authentic taste of Mike’s Way can be found in every corner of the United States.
There are a wide variety of high-end meats and cheeses on offer. Every day, they bake their own bread right there in the store. Then there’s the fact that everything is ready to go in front of you.
As a result, customers can expect Jersey Mike’s to have the most authentic taste of any submarine sandwich on the market.
