A “caramelized exterior” is what the menu claims. As evidenced by the finished hot dog, we’re on the same page. Because it’s split into two pieces, the dog is more flavorful and easier to eat.
It’s not enough to compensate for the fact that the bun was just hardly grilled, no seasoning was used, and at the finish of the day, it’s still just an ordinary hot dog.

History
One of the original “Five Guys” was Jerry Murrell; he was joined by his wife Janie and their four sons Matt, Jim, Chad, and Ben. Two years later, the Murrell family expanded with the birth of Tyler, the family’s fifth child.
In the current “Five Guys,” Matt and Jim travel the country, Chad is responsible for overseeing training, Ben chooses the franchisees, and Tyler runs the bakery; all five are involved in the business.
Arlington’s Westmont Shopping Center was home to the first Five Guys. Brenner’s bakery baked the buns in the exact location. To make way for one at the crossroads of King and North Beauregard Streets, which also closed on September 21, 2013.
