Pappadeaux restaurant company was founded in 1967 by Harris J. Pappas and Christopher J. Pappas in Houston, Texas, United States. The brothers were of Greek descent and their father had a successful seafood restaurant in Galveston, Texas.
They opened their first restaurant in a converted grocery store on the south side of Houston. The restaurant was an immediate success and the brothers soon opened additional restaurants. In 1984, they moved the company headquarters to Katy, Texas.
Today, Pappadeaux operates more than 60 restaurants across the southern United States. The company is still owned by the Pappas brothers and their cousin Steven J. Pappas.
It has been recognized as one of the top seafood chains in the country and is well known for its Cajun fares such as crawfish, Gulf Coast royal red shrimp, and catfish.
The Pappas brothers have not neglected their Greek heritage and offer some traditional Greek dishes at their restaurants. This includes items such as grilled octopus, Greek salads with olives, grape leaves, and pita bread.
